Basicaly, unintended consequences; slow degradation of freedoms ("boiling a frog", etc.); preservation of existing rights that are being slowly degraded (see prior); uselessness of requiring a photo ID (all terrorists have been shown to have perfectly valid IDs); move toward national ID card (bad thing, Orwell et al), etc.

Very True. 

  I for one, don't mind showing ID to get on a Plane.  Heck, I have to show ID to get into a night club or "gentleman's club"...

 As long as they're not recording my info and storing it for future use or anythign like that...

There's a big difference between requiring and requesting.

I think there was a decision though that does allow for requiring.
